AMIS, the Acting and Modelling Information Service, was established in 1995 by entertainment and fashion industry professionals who were disturbed by the exploitation of the public by unscrupulous agencies. AMIS has been supported financially by the professional associations within the entertainment industry such as:
- ACTRA,
- Theatre Ontario,
- the Casting Directors Society of Canada, and
- TAMAC, the Talent Agents and Managers Association of Canada.
AMIS was instrumental in the establishment of the Entertainment Industry Coalition which has developed a Code of Ethics for agents, available widely in the city of Toronto.
